Instructions for the submission of abstracts
Authors wishing to present a paper or e-poster are invited to submit an abstract of a maximum of 300 words (not including title and author names and affiliations). Abstracts exceeding 300 words will not be accepted.
The following information is required for each abstract:
- Presenting author’s name, position, organisation, full contact address, telephone and email address. This information will be used for all further communications.
- Names and organisations of co-authors.
- The presentation preference of oral presentation or e-poster presentation.
All authors must follow the format of the abstract template and use the headings provided. Abstracts not in the correct format will be rejected. Please click here to download the template.
Abstract format
- The first named author must be the person submitting the paper, who will present the paper if accepted.
- Abstracts will only be considered if submitted in English.
- Abstracts should be uploaded as a Word document.
- Abstracts will be blind reviewed, so should not contain author details. All author and co-author information should be entered to the submission system and will be added to your abstract later.
- Abstracts are not edited by the organisers and author corrections will not be accepted after final submission. Abstracts should therefore be checked carefully for accuracy prior to submission.
- The preferred font is Arial 10.
- The body of the abstract may be a maximum of 300 words. Abstracts exceeding this limit will be truncated.
- The abstract should be as informative as possible and should include an explanation as to why the paper meets the conference theme.
- Biographies and photographs of the presenting author should be submitted at the time of registration (opening in November).
Abstracts are invited under the following categories:
- Consumer engagement and communication– digital marketing, science communication and information channels
- Authenticity and security– product analysis, protecting brands, regulation, advances in packaging and packaging security
- Chemistry and flavour of spirits– novel developments in analysis, maturation and mixers
- Diversity of raw materials and their processing– developments in analysis, spirits around the world, novel substrates and improving substrates
- Innovation and diversity in fermentation– developments in analysis, yeast, bacteria and non-Saccharomyces yeasts
- Distillation processes – present and future – the green distillery, the distillery as a biorefinery, water footprint and carbon footprint
- Improving our environmental impact – climate change, sustainability, raw material availability, process improvement
- Diversity of process, category and people
- Challenging tradition -blue sky thinking for the future of distilling around the world
Please note that the presenting author (for both e-poster and oral) will be required to pay the full registration fee by the early registration deadline. The details submitted within the abstract submission system for the primary author will automatically appear in the programme and abstract book produced. Please note that if the primary author does not register by the early bird deadline, the abstract will be withdrawn.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is Tuesday 1st June and authors will be notified if their paper has been accepted for an oral or poster presentation by Tuesday 1st July.
Posters
Posters will all be electronic and further information will be issued to accepted poster authors in due course.
